What occupational specialisms will be available with ALMP?
In addition to the core content, each student will also complete at least one module of occupation-specific content. The specialisms available in the ALMP T Level are:
- crop production
- floristry
- land-based engineering
- livestock production
- ornamental horticulture and landscaping
- tree and woodland management and maintenance
Following a recent consultation on the draft outline content, The Institute for Apprenticeships and Technical Education (IfATE) will be progressing development of a new T Level Occupational Specialism for Animal Care and Science. The aim of this OS is to provide students with employment or entry into higher education. This OS will be an option within the Animal Care and Management T Level and sit alongside the Animal Care and Management specialism.
Development of the Equine Care and Management Occupational Specialism will remain paused whilst the aligned standards are being revised. This work is expected to conclude in Autumn 2023.
Development timeframe for ACM
IfATE have decided to extend the development timeframe from the Animal Care and Management (ACM) T Level to September 2024.
This is to ensure the final product meets the expectations of both employers and higher education providers.

Upcoming validation meetings
We’ve already received a huge amount of support from providers, employers, industry bodies and technical experts, but we need more feedback to ensure course content is robust, highly relevant and fit-for-purpose.
Validating content involves reviewing content and assessments, providing feedback either as part of a group online meeting or by completing online forms.
If you’re a provider, or an employer within the animal industries and would like to be involved the development of this TQ or get more information about the process, please complete the form.
