Assessment preparation resources - SmartScreen

Tutors can tap into our expert tutor resources and enhanced SmartScreen offer to make life easier and provide the learning that apprentices need.

Using SmartScreen allows tutors to save time and money as resources are readily available and content is standardised across a centre.

Showcasing best practice

Get the latest insight into best practice with our exemplar materials (available in written and video formats); sample tests; workbooks; Apprenticeship Training Manuals; and expert Technical Advisors.

All of our resources are specifically mapped to the standard and are designed to draw out the skills, knowledge, and behaviours that apprentices need so they feel confident for assessment.

LIEPA Reports

Our LIEPA (Lead Independent End-Point Assessor) reports pull out the key areas to focus on for EPA, sharing observations and lessons learned from previous assessments. They are a great resource to draw on that enable you to plan ahead and ensure your assessments run smoothly.

Learning Assistant

For more than 10 years, Learning Assistant has set the standard for e-portfolios – enhancing the learning experience without the need for paper and textbooks, whilst creating a fully inclusive and supporting learning environment fit for the modern learner.

Maths & English

We believe that all apprentices should be supported in order to improve their maths and English skills. Studying maths and English could be a requirement of an apprenticeship and is dependent on the level that has already been achieved, as well as the apprenticeship being taken.

Maths and English can be delivered through GCSE or Functional Skills. Details are in the apprenticeship standard, though generally:

  • Level 2 apprentices require maths and English at Level 1 and should attempt Level 2
  • Level 3 apprentices need maths and English at Level 2
  • there may be extra requirements for higher level apprenticeships or specific industry roles.

We offer a range of online and offline materials and packages for learners to succeed in maths and English, as well as CPD courses for tutors to help incorporate maths and English into the apprentice journey. This is particularly helpful for curriculum staff who are not used to delivering this.

Our Functional Skills qualifications help apprentices build their confidence and knowledge so they can gain the required level of maths and English for “gateway”.
